MEMO: KEY POINTS OF THE EXPERIENCE

We are all influenced by unconscious biases; these biases tend to surface particularly in situations characterized by complexity, ambiguity, and stress.

  • Confirmation bias leads us to select information that reinforces our initial opinions and beliefs.

  • The first step in countering this is to be aware of it.

  • The right approach is then to actively seek out conflicting viewpoints and information.

HOW TO FOSTER CONSTRUCTIVE COMMUNICATION?

  • Ensure a shared language :Clarify the meaning of words, especially when speaking with people whose profession, culture, or background differs from your own.

  • Adopt a listening mindset: Listen to understand, not to respond.

  • Sincerely encourage the expression of differing viewpoints: Collectively create an environment of psychological safety that allows for the expression of differing viewpoints. E.g., speak last when meeting with your team.

YOU TASTED FOUR CHOCOLATES

Four dark chocolates from Maison WEISS, an artisanal French chocolate maker based in Saint-Etienne since 1882. Here are their taste characteristics**:

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC : "The harmonious blend of Ecuadorian beans brings roundness and sweetness to the power of African cocoa."

MADAGASCAR : "A chocolate with light fruity and tangy notes married to subtle woody and floral notes."

TANZANIA : "Its frank chocolate taste is accompanied by vanilla notes, dried fruit aromas and a hint of licorice. Tangy and fresh notes then appear, leaving a good length in the mouth."

ECUADOR : "A chocolate with a marked bitterness but without acidity, with roasted aromas and grilled notes in the finish."
